Restaurant Concept Statement

A restaurant concept statement is not unlike a standard business concept statement but it rarely heard in the hospitality industry.  Nonetheless, it is a great and powerful tool.  A restaurant concept statement should define the characteristics and objectives of the product or service. Most importantly, a restaurant concept statement defines the customer’s problem and how it is solved by this business. It sounds easy to say, “Customers will get great food and they’ll like it” but that does not really answer the problem that is being solved. I have found that it takes me a couple of drafts to get the core of the matter. It’s a process that comes to life and becomes great with a few passes. In the end, I have found a restaurant concept statement to be one of the most valuable investments available. It becomes the guiding force in all decisions in building a new restaurant business.  What is your business concept statement?
